How a headline earns its place
The app and the API run on the same pipeline. Every story goes through four steps before anyone sees it.
-
01
Collect
Publishers, newswires, market data providers and SEC filings, collected around the clock.
-
02
Filter
Duplicates, clickbait, press-release mills and low-reputation sites are held back before they reach the feed.
-
03
Tag
Each story is linked to the tickers it is actually about, across 9,720 listed companies and funds.
-

Score
A 0–100 relevance score and a high-impact flag, so the stories that move a stock rise to the top.

- Relevance score. Every headline is rated, and high-impact stories are flagged.
- Mid-day and closing briefs. Two emails a trading day with what happened to your stocks.
- Reading club. Follow friends and see what they are reading.
- Web app today, phones next. Works in any browser now; iPhone and Android apps are on the way.

The StocksNews API serves ticker-tagged, scored headlines as clean JSON, with a license that covers how you actually use it.
- News by ticker, keyword and date. Up to 20 tickers per call, cursor pagination, archive back to June 2026.
- Metadata you can rank on. Relevance score, high-impact flag, publisher and every tagged ticker.
- Licensing-safe by design. Titles, a 300-character summary and the link to the original. Never the full article.
- Ready for procurement. Commercial use on every paid plan, redistribution on Business, SLA and invoicing on Enterprise.
- Standard tooling. OpenAPI 3.1 spec, usage endpoint, clear rate-limit headers and error codes.
No card needed. The Developer plan includes 100 requests a day.

Questions
Common questions
Is the investor app really free?
Yes. The web app, the watchlist and the daily email briefs are free for individual investors, and the iPhone and Android apps will be free too.
Where does the news come from?
From 4,206 sources: financial publishers, newswires, market data providers and SEC filings. Each publisher is rated for reputation, and low-quality sites are held back automatically.
Does the API return full articles?
No. Every plan returns the headline, a summary of up to 300 characters, the publisher, the tagged tickers, the score and a link to the original article. That keeps your use of the feed clear of publisher copyright.
Can I try the API before paying?
Yes. The Developer plan is free forever with 100 requests a day and a week of history, no card needed. Upgrade to a paid plan when you need commercial use.
How fresh is the feed?
Sources are collected around the clock, and stories usually appear within minutes of publication. The app and the API read from the same database.
Is StocksNews investment advice?
No. StocksNews organizes news from third-party publishers. It does not recommend buying or selling any security.
